Therapy and Counselling in Plumstead SE18

How can therapy help?

Sometimes people feel clear as to why they want to come for sessions. Sometimes this is less clear, but people still feel they want to talk to someone in confidence.

Counselling (a short course of sessions) and therapy (a longer term arrangement) both offer a confidential, respectful space to talk  through and explore difficulties that can face a person at any time in their life. A therapist has been trained to work with difficult feelings and thoughts, and can help someone look at what currently lies outside their understanding of what troubles them.

Having the support and insight of a therapist enables people to explore things that have happened in the past, what is currently going on for them, and what might lie ahead; this enables them to make changes, in order to lead more fulfilled and enjoyable lives.

Counselling/therapy has been shown to be effective in helping people with

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • coping with bereavement
  • coming to terms with abusive experiences such as bullying or sexual mistreatment
  • post traumatic stress and related symptoms, such as insomnia
  • relationship difficulties
  • addictions, including alcohol, gambling, internet use, porn and drug use
  • eating disorders
  • difficulties around sexuality and sexual identitiy
  • anger management
  • loss of faith and spiritual crises
  • blocks in creativity and career
